    Current Non-Fiction reads

The Grand Design by Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow. I'm only a quarter way through the book, but already finding it an engrossing and thought provoking book.

    What Would Happen If...

"What Would Happen If... ...it is proven that our president (US) was not born here (United States)?" It would herald the dawn of the zombie apocalypse?

    Getting to know...

I'm also a newbie here... What do you do for a living? I wear two different job hats. I'm a critical-care nurse working in an adult ICU trauma unit and an advocate/lobbyist for disability organisations in the realm of rights and resources for the disabled. What kind of reader are you? I...

    The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is one of my 'must watch' TV programs. I have only just begun collecting the series sets and am awaiting the arrival of season 2 in the mail--gotta love the convenience of eBay. Like it is with most foreign TV series/material airing here in Oz we are no doubt trailing far...

    What books have you hated?

Twilight. New Moon. Eclipse. Breaking Dawn. The entire Twilight series. I was given the set of four books as a present, and as appreciative as I am of the thoughtfulness shown to me by someone taking the time to shop, purchase, wrap and present the gift...being burnt at the stake might have been...

What crime/horror/thriller/mystery books have you read and found appealing?

I may even prefer Marino over Scarpetta. I have a penchant for the archetypal gumshoe detective.

Capt. Kirk tests going from 200mph-0mph in a 1,000,000 lb plane (Boeing 747-8)

Ha! I had the 'Star Trekkin' song stuck in my head for the remainder of the day after making that post.

    Last seen...

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead - One of my most favourite films. The film, based on a Tom Stoppard play of the same name, follows the misadventures and musings of the two minor characters from Shakespeare's Hamlet, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Both Gary Oldman and Tim Roth are...

What is a good young adult literature book to do a literary argument/paper on?

Three suggestions for young adult fiction: Slaughteboy, by Odo Hirsch. Tomorrow, When the War Began (first book in the Tomorrow series), by John Marsden. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, by Mark Haddon. All three have compelling and well crafted stories. The premise of each...

What crime/horror/thriller/mystery books have you read and found appealing?

Of late I have had a fondness for Patricia Cornwell's Dr. Kay Scarpetta (forensic pathologist) novels. I love many of the recurring characters such Dr Scarpetta and the crusty homicide detective, Pete Marino.
