I think about people's intentions constantly. But I'm not rude in my dealings with other people, which is generally what I picture when I think of what a cynic is. I just smile, act polite, and think bad things about them.

It's kind of hard to explain. Yes, it's Earth. It could be the past OR future, because the Earth cycles through 7 Ages all the time. The same relative thing happens in each cycle (the 3rd, 4th ages are the same etc.) The books take place during the 3rd Age. I believe we are now in the 7th Age...
