A very amusing read, thank you!
I have a little pet hate of my own, which is the misuse of apostrophes. The lack of them I can tolerate (just!), but putting them in the wrong places frustrates me a lot. There was a sign at work, a relatively successful tourist attraction that read; "Please...
I think it varies a lot, person to person, relationship to relationship. Depends what the intent was in the first place; some people are looking for partners to sleep with and end up falling in love. Others are looking for someone to be close to, and build their relationship on love and sex...
I'm seventeen and it's 22:35 Saturday night. Not quite sure what the age is when it's OK to be at home on a Saturday night, but I'm pretty sure I'm still under it.
Oh well, I'm content sitting here browsing away, so I don't care what anyone else thinks. I don't enjoy drinking, or hanging out...
The trouble, as abecedarian said, is that everyone sees a book differently, and it's impossible to please everyone. Admittedly, a lot of the book to movie (or TV) conversions I've seen haven't been much to my taste but I understand they can't just tailor them to my wants, or even book readers in...
Through no fault of your own! When somone invents a way to transmit tone with text, they will be very rich, and everyone will know what everyone else is implying! I often get into arguments over text taken in the wrong tone of voice :(
And Rule of Four opinions.... Here, or shall I save...
I tend to buy most of my books new, I like shiny, crisp things and in general avoid second hand items when I can. But I'm a rubbish buyer anyway and always pay more than I need to.
I often buy new from Amazon Marketplace too so I'm not actually supporting the authors like I would if I bought...
I'm regretting the choice already! It's a name I used to use when I was about 12 and have never been able to shake. It's always the first thing that comes into my head when I register somewhere (for sentiment sake) and I always grow to hate it afresh once I've used it a while!
And I'm not...
UK - Kids for me. Mostly because all my others (except my 1st Ed. Sorceror's Stone hardback I got as a gift) are UK Kids, and it made sense to collect them as matching books. Will need to try and track down a hardback Philosopher's Stone too.
I'm going to disagree, but not wholly. While you could probably read the book skipping all the sexual scenes without missing much (if any) of the actual story line, I feel they do build up a picture of the relationships of the characters. Sometimes they do become a little frequent and...
Folding corners is a big no-no for me. I like to keep my books looking good, or worn from over reading (the sign of a good book!). Never mistreated.
Right now I have a HP book mark I got with the latest book. Holographic and everything  but I'll use anything that's around. Sometimes the...
I heard the story and was fascinated, and when I saw the book, I added it to the TBR list. Have been a little apprehensive as it seems like the kind of short book that's always rattled off when this kind of thing comes about to make a quick buck without much thought or emotion being put into it...
Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter has one of the main characters, an adult female, getting kidnapped for most of the book.
Not sure if it's too late, but a suggestion all the same!
I also read A&D after DVC. Strangely, I read DVC quite quickly, but made a bit of a meal of A&D, reading it on and off over a long period but when I finished, although it didn't hook me quite so much, (due to the book or perhaps outside influences) I felt A&D was the better book. A lot of people...
I keep my to read list on my Amazon wish list, basket, text files, my head, little sheets of paper. I have my TBR titles written down, but not compiled into any single, useful, organised form! Maybe I should.
The first 13 Kay Scarpetta novels - Patricia Cornwell novels
Davinci Code and Angels and Demons - Dan Brown
Black Magician Trilogy - Trudy Canavan
Code 61 - Donald Harstad
Hat Full Of Sky and Thief of Time - Terry Pratchett
Dissolution - CJ Sansom
Rule Of Four - Caldwell/Thomason

I just finished The Black Magician Trilogy by Trudy Canavan. Mostly enjoyed them, especially the final book. Not the best books I've ever read, lacked a few things I look for in great books, but still pleased with them.
My girlfriend is an avid reader much like I am. Although we don't really share taste in books, she's very open to suggestion and has borrowed most of the books I've read and liked recently and read those too. Gets through them all quicker than I did and seemed to enjoy them, but doesn't talk...
