    Get yourself known

I am actually going to send Nightswallow there - I discovered Snowbooks a couple of months ago!

    Get yourself known

Well my first book only came out in June 2008 and Pegasus were terrible with promotion and just generally kept me in the dark about it all. It was rather disappointing and the royalties weren't amazing either. Apart from sending Nightswallow to them I didn't send it to any other normal...

    The Children of Nibel

Sorry, I should explain how some may see it as writing in a different way than usual - for me it's like writing from a memory, something that's already happened, so there's less imagination involved although it plays a part to some extent of course. I will do some more work on this story, I...

    Obscure Azure

Okay, if you say so. Thanks ;)

    Get yourself known

Hi Stewart, I've confused as to what you said about The Thought Pool, as there's quite a few blogs up on there and have been ever since it first went up. The calendar is mainly for upcoming books signings and events and the scroll bar is just something fun that I thought I could change to...

    Get yourself known

John, you seem slightly disillusioned with the whole publishing industry. Do you self publish? Your website looks slightly cluttered, but I noticed you have many titles. Why do you consider yourself 'small fry'? I am a new author, my first book came out under a year ago so I haven't really...

    The Official Book Censorship Thread

Not just book banning, any censorship.

    The Children of Nibel

Just to clear that up - polishing I agree with, but to add something into the story to change it around to a completely different angle? I'm not sure I'd want to. Thank you for your words of encouragement.

    Bram Stoker: Dracula

I've never read this; funny, so many popular and famous books out there that I have yet to read...

    The Official Book Censorship Thread

    Censorship is a cancer.

    Today I'm Happy because....

... because my life is a hectic chaotic mess and although I cried today, I really do thrive in chaos.

    The Children of Nibel

Thank you for your comments John. They have helped, although I write in a bit of a different way from usual... you see, I write from dreams, this short story being the most recent of them. Perhaps I should play about with it and try and adapt it by making it less boring, but I like to write...

Hi Libra, thanks for the welcome :D just wondered, how do I set up a signature? Is it possible to set one up as my website url?

    Obscure Azure

That's an interesting avatar you have there!

Use of the word " I " in narration.

It just depends on the story and what flows best, in my opinion. It should sound natural and easy to read, and a bit of variation stops it from being boring, too.

    Get yourself known

I read the description for this forum, and I feel I have to ask: what is the best way to get yourself known? I'm trying constantly to promote myself and my work and I'll be doing the emotionally draining but obligatory book signings again soon and wonder how far can I possibly get...

    Re-reading books

I sometimes go back to my old favourites - especially to books I once read in my teenage or younger years (I was a mature reader for my age) as I find I see them in a different light now.

Has the economy influenced your book buying?

I'm stuck at home with no job, but I'm writing away like the little scribe that I am (and occasionally posting on forums!)
