Depends on the book. Some books get me hooked in, no matter what, while with others, my mind can wander, even if it's a good book. :o I'm very easily distracted anyway.... I also tend to have a bad memory when it comes to books I've read. I'll remember reading a book, and loving it...
I can't read in cars or buses. Makes me wanna hurl! :p Trains are ok though - that's the only thing I miss about catching the train to work.
Loved The Secret History, wasn't too much a fan of The Little Friend. In fact, I didn't end up finishing it....just skimmed the last chapter so I know how it ended (and I've forgotten that too! ) :o
Big Stephen King fan here. :D
Faves are The Stand and It. Enjoyed The Dark Tower series as well - liked how it ended. ;) My favourites of that series are the first four books (especially Wizard and Glass - though I know quite a few people didn't like that one  ).
I've read all of Palahniuk, except for his latest (Stranger than Fiction??). I think Fight Club is the best of his books, followed by Invisible Monster and Survivor. Didn't care too much for Diary or Choke. :(
I've never been able to get into Koontz. :( I don't know - for some reason, I just can't stay interested when I read most of his books, so I've pretty much given up on them. :o I positively loved Watchers though. :D
Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi.
Or the John Douglas books (Mindhunter, Journey into Darkness, etc) - very good reads, for someone interested in what goes on behind criminal profiling.
Oh wow, I haven't thought about this book in ages. I had to read it in primary school, but I think I liked it anyway. :p I would like to re-read it as an adult to see what I think of it now.
For fiction - Margaret Atwood. She has such a great writing style, that just draws you in.
For non-fiction - hmmmm, probably Carl Sagan, if you have an interest in all things science.
RitalinKid, I loved The Third Chimpanzee by Jared Diamond! :D Still have yet to read Guns, Germs and...
I just finished re-reading Alias Grace, by Margaret Atwood. She's such a fantastic author, with a great command of the English language. She can make anything interesting! :D
Hi everyone! ;)
I'm glad to have found this forum! :D I'm an avid book reader (or at least I try to be, in between work, and other things  )
I've been browsing this forum for a few weeks, and have added so many book recommendations to my list.... I don't know when...
