I agree that it was not as convincing. I've heard opinions of it reading like fanfiction, and I have to agree. It just felt weird, like it wasn't the real story.
The Grapes of Wrath and Atonement. I didn't like the Grapes of Wrath, but I loved Atonement. I don't usually go for depressing stuff because I read to be happy and not think about depressing things in life.
I really enjoyed it, but I tend to read a lot of children's books anyway. I would recommend it to anyone with children, or anyone who enjoy children's books.

I keep a list of books I read, which includes title, author, date finished, number of pages, type of book or number in series, and a rating based on my own rating system. I think I might drop the rating though and add a start date.
I think the books that I've hated reading were all in English.
