Yeah, something that bugs me is that the Browns that exist now are actually a pretty new expansion team, all the historical stats magically stayed with the team named "The Browns" even though those stats (all the franchise records and stuff) should belong to the Ravens.
Plus, the Browns kinda...
I was a little surprised that nobody had mentioned it.
The short version of the story is that for sixty-something years an unknown person has been leaving roses and cognac on Poe's birthday at his grave.
And this year, the guy didn't show up.
Personally I blame the economy. Who has money to...
When you're woken from your sleep by a slow, soft, "sshhh"ing approaching your nightstand and you open one eye to catch its shadowy rectangular outline against the dim glow of a streetlamp outside - and hear the sound of a long, thin blade clearing the binding it had been tucked into
...
it's...
I come up with quick little stories now and then. And bust them out at bedtime for my sweetheart, the times that I have a sweetheart.
Here's one:
So many young boys and girls learn their first lessons about life through their pets. And the story of Miles Leconte is no different. This kid wanted...
How did you feel about What's Up, Tiger Lily?
It's his greatest departure from making "Woody Allen" movies, and his most entertaining.
Mighty Aphrodite was good, but it's SUCH a Woody Allen movie.
I get that a lot of pros do their best work when they're older - filmmakers and architects spring...
Must sees:
Dreams - Akiro Kurosawa
Also, Kurosawa's Shichinin no Samurai (Seven Samurai) is widely regarded as a masterpiece. But Dreams really does it for me.
Oldboy - Chan-wook Park (I'm sure the rest of the "vengence" movies are good, but it's not actually possible to beat the hallway...
I understand looking for countries to take what is expected to be ten thousand or more newly orphaned kids. Apparently their domestic orphanages are already just forced to turn kids away. There's too little to go around already, so if they take in these new kids, everybody starves.
Black Lips last night at Detroit Bar down in OC.
If you're cool enough, you can check em out on YouTube. "Bad Kids" is where you'll get hooked.
But you're probably not cool enough.
It's actually an amazing tragedy.
The populations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined before WWII was around 600,000.
The population of Port-au-Prince before the earthquake was around 700,000.
About one hundred fifty thousand people died instantly when we bombed Japan.
Estimates are two hundred...
Yeah? I'll take good hip hop recommendations.
But I'm pretty snobby. I like Mos Def and Black Star. But hate Taleib's solo stuff.
Love Deltron 3030, but I don't care much for Del's solo stuff.
Like old Blackalicious and J5 because it was an alternative to the super ghetto stuff of the mid-90s...
Cabinet Magazine is pretty amazing.
They've had well-written, well-researched articles on just about everything - from the invention of the vibrator (according to ads from the turn of the last century, the medical benefits are immense) to one about a gentleman who is growing/shaping living...
Is this where I come to worship Noam Chomsky?
I wish, starting now, that someone would record everything he says. There's going to be a huge void in honest examination of power when he passes away. We really, really need someone who can fill his shoes.
Also, William Buckley winks at him. Rowr!
