    Transparent Tape Removal

Howdy folks, I have no idea if this is the proper forum to post this, but I'm considering buying a book from 1905 that has transparent tape across a pair of pages, which I assume means closer tears. Though the paper used in those days is made of sterner stuff (thick rag paper), any of you have...

    Van Halen and Diamond Dave

One would hope. Perhaps Van Halen could become current and relevant again if they had DD in front. Dave

    Tom Bradby: Master of Rain

I have that book myself, and agree it's a good one. Little grim in spots though, so maybe a PG book. Dave

What does reading a book mean to you?

I learned to read when I was four by looking over my mother's shoulder as she read my bedtime story, and she knew I was reading when I started correcting her when she missed a passage. Because my parents read before bed, so did I, and so do I, from the time I was a small child to today...

To me, having the book in your hands is far superior than sitting in front of a computer screen reading text. Dave

    Recently Purchased/Borrowed

Lessee, recently The Strand Volume 8, June to December 1894 and an August 1904 issue of the magazine from book sellers in New York and Colorado, respectively. Several more vintage books and magazines are on the way from a variety of sources. Dave

Bookstores are gone from Laredo, TX

The town I live in lost its lone used book store soon after I moved here in 2002, leaving one of the Uber chains and lesser evils left for reading material, and to them we do not speak . . . Dave

    stupidest movie ever

I gave Kull half a star because that was the least I could lol. Think my opening paragraph had Kull rhyming with dull. Dave

    stupidest movie ever

Back when I worked at newspapers for a living, I got suckered into reviewing movies and had to sit through that . . . thing. Battlefield Earth is right up there with Kevin Sorbo as Kull the Conqueror. Think I gave that stinker half a star. Dave

    New to the forum

Hello, I was looking for a book forum and ran across this site, and registered straight away. I'm a collector of vintage and antique books and magazines. I'm currently trying to complete the run of bound volumes of 'The Strand' magazine from the 19th century, but do pick up VG or better volumes...
