    Europe and asia

Good point, Litany. Actually I saw a great program on the History Channel the other night about a crucial battle between Hannibal and the Romans, I don't remember the name of the battle unfortunately but the smaller, more poorly equipped army won the battle, so who was the better army there?

    Europe v.s. Asia

I don't see the Eskimos listed, those guys are pretty tough.

    Europe and asia

Well to represent the siege part, I used my brother's old Castle Greyskull toy as the french base. So I think that part was pretty accurate, except for the part where the toothy drawbridge fell onto the prone green army man. We all know that NEVER could have really happened.

Firstly, I would like to say dsj, your threads are hilarious. I am assuming you are just stirring up the pot for amusement's sake, I hope to God you aren't serious. Secondly, I want to address what Litany said back on page 1...are you honestly trying to absolve terrorists of blame for their...

    Europe and asia

OK I just ran a simulation using action figures. I didn't really have anything representing old Europeans so I used some old french toy soldiers. And I didn't really have any ancient Asian figures so I used old Star Wars figures. For balance I put a few green army men on each side. And you know...

    Umberto Eco: Foucault's Pendulum

Thank you for your reply Abulafia :) I have another question that I have been pondering in the days since I have finished the book: Sorry for the mammoth spoiler highlight!

    Umberto Eco: Foucault's Pendulum

My quote is from a hilarious Saturday Night Live skit starring Christopher Walken as a man being interviewed by Tim Meadows, a census-taker.

    Xbox

I have been waiting for Fable ever since I used to play Black & White on computer, and Fable was called 'Project Ego'. That game looks like it is going to be HUGE. And then comes Halo 2...it's a good time to own an Xbox.

    Umberto Eco: Foucault's Pendulum

OK I did a quick search and didn't see any threads pertaining to this book, so I apologize if I missed one. I can see why the book is recommended by so many readers of this forum, it's very deep and will take a while for me to chew on some of the themes I found in the book. But I have one...

I LOVE my Xbox. I think I'll marry it. I am currently playing SSX3, that game is fantastic!

    Dune

In the movie they changed 'The Weirding Way' to that strange way of fighting people with sound-I love the part where that guy says Muad'dib and it echoes over and over again. In the book though the Weirding Way was a style of fighting particular to the Bene Gesserits. I thought it worked well...

    Clive Cussler

I agree completely with Carlos--these books are a fun, easy read and the plot is incredibly formulaic. Kind of like the James Bond series of books! I love them for trips where I just want something to read and not have to ponder too much. I haven't read all of the books but from what I've read...

what's the coding for the highlighting thing? NEVER mind, I got it!

    I, Robot

For me it seemed like the film's plot was more like the plot from 'Caves of Steel' than 'I, Robot'. Without going into too much detail, it's a murder mystery where the main suspect 'couldn't possibly' have committed the murder, and it falls to a detective with a strong dislike of robots to solve...

Dan Brown: The Da Vinci Code

I wouldn't say I hated this book, but the reason I disliked it so much was because of the incredible hype. It's been all over every book website, and copies and displays of disgusting proportions have infested my favorite bookstores. It gets glowing reviews as the best book EVAH by people who...

Charles Dickens: A Tale Of Two Cities

I remember the first time I read this book, in high school, I could not keep the characters straight and ended up reading most of the book having no idea what was going on. After having it outlined by the teacher I was only slightly less confused. Since then I have gone back and read it a number...

    2001 quadrilogy

I remember stalling out a couple of times during the series, parts that I thought were long and tedious. But looking back on the whole series I thought it was an excellent read and I'd definitely recommend it. Now if you want to talk about stalling out in long, tedious, boring sequences...

Dan Brown: The Da Vinci Code

Spoilers MORE SPOILERS HERE...I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THE CODE THING Yes thank you Mevlana for your posts. You definitely know far more about the specifics than I do--I actually did get an americo-centric feel from the book but was not able to nail down the specifics as you have. Even...
