I actually don't dislike the topics either... but that writing, my God! It gets boring, repetitive, the characters are insipid, the base is always the same (single man, single woman - who usually looses someone of the family somewhere along the story - find something, try to discover what's...
I usually don't read in bed; that's because as soon as I hit the bed, I fall asleep. It doesn't matter if I go to bed at 10 or at midnight; after turning out the light, it takes me around 3 minutes to fall asleep.
I remember staying awake one night until 2.30 am because of a book... although...
I really looooooooove yellow cats... they are amazing.
I have one cat, black and white, called Ajax - and boy, does he have a bad temper.
We also have a huge aquarium with lots of fish, but none of them have names... because to me they all look the same (some yellow, some blue). Except...
"Até amanhã, camaradas" by Manuel Tiago
The title means "See you tomorrow, comrades" and it shows Portugal and the struggle of the communist party to throw down the dictatorship we had under Salazar's rule. It depicts the conditions of the poor people, specially in the countryside, and the...
Exactly. Yoga, but I don't always feel like going. But I hate all kinds of exercise. If I weren't so afraid of becoming the michelin dummy, I would never go to the gym. I get bored easily.

I have to admit I don't like some of Saramago's books. In school, they made me read Baltazar and Blimunda ("Memorial do Convento", in Portuguese) and I couldn't finish it. I really hated it.
A few years later, I decided to give Saramago another shot (my mother always made me, since she's a...
I read The Da Vinci Code and I actually enjoyed it. It definately wasn't Eco, Dan Brown isn't a particularly good writer, but it was... ok.
Than I read "Angels and Deamons" (I didn't buy it, asked a friend of mine)... and... I found myself reading exactly the same story, with different names...
Thank you, guys! I really thought I was the only person who paid attention to those "books" on decorating/furniture stores... You've made my day! :D

I know I'm a bit late.
Read in June:
"Bag of Bones" - Stephen King (actually was a re-read, but I couldn't remember most of the story)
"The Burning Times" - Jeanne Kalogridis
"Estrela de Seis Pontas" - Manuel Tiago (about a Portuguese prison during Salazar's dictatorship)
"Uma Deusa na Bruma"...
I actually remembered this post today, as I was in the subway and saw a man with a book in his hand... and when I saw that it was "The tommyknockers", by King, I just felt an urge to run and tell him not to waste his time...

Hello
My name is Ana, I'm from Portugal and I read a lot. At last I found a place where I can talk about books without having people looking at me like I'm some kind of lunatic. :D
