I know there are lot of free e-books.
But I wanted to share some with BAR members that you might find with interest as I run into them.
This one is offered by Amazon (US), not sure of other countries.
Best Little Stories from the Civil War: More than 100 true stories
The other day, I was really busy. I wanted to read a long pdf file and an email document, but I had to take my kids to their basketball practices. I could have printed out the file, but it was about 60 pages long. Amazon provides a free service to kindle owners that lets you send word docs...
I read the 1st of the series several years ago. It was an enjoyable book. I have forgotten most parts of the storyline. In regards your question, like Occlith stated, is to find the summaries in wikipedia. I often read the summaries in wikipedia for some books. It's kind of like reading a...
Just curious. How come in some groups, older threads are gone?
Like: Book Search & Suggestions, has only 5 threads. There were more before.
Is B&R forum programmed to delete old threads, one of the mods remove them once it gets old? Or is it in hide mode?
And I think there's way to...
Yes, repetitive. Try out a different genre to get out of the monotony of fantasy/fiction. Won't you try any of Malcolm Gladwell's books. :flowers:
I used to read fictions only, mainly sci-fi & fantasy. Then tried out other stuff. It turned out pretty good.
Something geared towards adult, I recommend: Lyonesse Trilogy by Jack Vance. Suldrun's Garden is Book number 1.

Um, who voted him in?
I used to get 'lost' in our local Borders. The books were sorted in most peculiar way, I had to often seek help from the employees. It was two stories, with stairs, elevators, and a small coffee shop. Unfortunately it closed few years ago. :(
Currently, Amazon is selling Kindle 3. But this explains about Kindle 2 and its e-ink technology.
Click the above link. The e-ink technology is really nice. Provides something more of paper like feel than other LCD or TV type screen. E-ink can be read under direct sunlight without glare. I...
According to this article, Borders Decline Means Big Changes For Industry , "e-books are 10% of current book sales, and will accelerate due to many Borders bookstore closings."
Also, Borders did not have an e-reader like Barnes & Nobles, Nook. Seems like a major bookseller like Borders...
I had my share of discords on forums. And above quote I have to agree. I find that many folks in certain forums have very similar way of thinking that it's disturbing. What's more perturbing is all the sycophants that reiterate the same idea or ridicule against one person who had the courage...
Britain Faces Closing The Book On Libraries
Our county libraries are facing closures also here in Los Angeles County.
I sent in a letter to my representative and our state governor.
It seems our library is still standing and have not cut their hours yet.
I hope the Brits keep their...
