I used to read 3/4 books at once when I was a kid but I cant now. It's definitely the fact that I need to be in the "world" of a book. And you cant be in more than one world at a time. Or can you?!
I started blogging to have a little space of my own and to amuse my friends (who are colleging abroad). :)
It's not something I update every day but whenever I'm in the mood (bloggled, I call it :p ).
Actually I'm feeling quite bloggled right now.
*scurries off*
Anyone else reading this?
Can anyone recommend any of Henry James stuff? I'd like to read something by him but I wouldn't know where to start.
It's very relaxing, calming. You read as though the words are spilling from your eyes, onto the page and into your mind.
It requires no effort.
Don't mind me, I often talk twaddle.
Yes, I think there is too much description. It kind of overtakes the picture you are trying to paint and strangles the character.
And adverbs...use sparingly. (lol, get it? :p )
Otherwise, interesting opening.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes I had noticed all the cliches in there and was tempted to remove them before posting.
This is something I wrote back in school and little effort went into it.
I posted it here so people could see my writing style and notice any recurring bad habits I have...
Again this is another first draft and I wrote it in school. I need to find where most of my faults lie so I'm posting this in the hope that you lot will have no qualms about ripping it apart. And if there is anything I do well, maybe you would mention that too. :)
The clock struck 5.00pm...
I will when I've changed it. :)
Have another short piece I wrote at school a few years back. Might post it as I need all the critics I can get if I want to start writing again.
Good point. Although I would usually make numerous changes after I've written something. I typed this out one night in about half an hour and didn't go back over it. It was just a one-off thing. I hadn't written in a long time and I just wanted to see what I could come up with.
Hey thanks for your thoughts. I really appreciate them. I'm 21 and used to write alot as a kid, with imagery being my strongest asset. This is the first thing I've written in a long time and it also happens to be the first and only draft.
Thanks for your encouraging comments, I might start...
:(
My tongue only goes up down left and right! How useless am I!
But the rest of my family can ALL roll their tongues!
And it's genetic?
