Thanks for the link, novella. I had never read any of his work up to this point but have been eyeing this thread for several weeks while deciding whether or not to add his books to my TBR list. I read this story rather hurriedly at work and feel it definitely requires a slower reread later but...
My wife really likes How To Cook Everything by Mark Bittman and she has recently been trying lots of recipes from America's Test Kitchen and let's just say neither me or my waist line are complaining! :D
Hey ds! He's doing great. Thanks so much for asking! Every day as a dad is more fun than the last. :)
Sorry to hear about the mixed feelings (is that a first for you with GGK?) I'll keep an eye on the Fionavar thread for more details.
Very good plan! This is definitely a book to read slowly and savor. Very atmospheric descriptions and fascinating characters. Just immerse yourself and enjoy :)
Personally, I have no problem with a hard fought tie during the regular season. As Motokid said, there's no way they would allow unlimited overtime during the regular season (nor should they) but it seems so unbalanced that a three hour game should come down to a glorified skills competition...
ds, I've been meaning to ask you how you are liking Fionavar? I've still only read Tigana but Fionavar is sitting on my shelf, tempting me, and the rest of his books are on my Amazon wishlist.
Scooter, nice to have another Kay fan on the forum! Welcome!
Just curious if anyone has read The Final Solution by Michael Chabon.

I thought the first half was excellent and although the second part tapered off...
From what I've gathered during my time on the forum, we're all a bunch of obsessed bibliophiles who spend every possible waking moment with our noses stuffed in a book. How does this affect those you live with?
I'm fortunate enough to be married to a fellow bookworm and in fact, we tend to...
Guy Gavriel Kay! I can't recommend his books highly enough and I know there are several other TBFers who feel the same. A good place to start is Tigana, an excellent stand alone novel. Although I haven't read them, I have also heard that his Fionavar Tapestry books are quite good.
Middlesex – Jeffrey Eugenides
One Hundred Years Of Solitude – Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Game Of Thrones – George RR Martin
Grapes Of Wrath – John Steinbeck
Moby Dick – Herman Melville

Remains Of The Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
Not only are the Raiders old, they always seem to manage to self-destruct. 16 penalties! Fun to watch! Congrats Kook and you other Pats fans. They seem to be picking up right where they left off.
Hey Kook,
It'll be interesting to see how they do minus some pretty big names (both players and coaches). Nothing ever seems to phase them, they just keep rolling. They do have a brutal schedule this year. I for one am looking forward to their visit to the Mile High City. Their last game...
Yeah, I've nearly made that mistake myself. I tried to be as clear as I could
:) How do you think the Eagles will do after all the offseason turmoil? I think they'll still be very good but you've got to wonder if it won't take its toll.
Anyone else chompin' at the bit for the big NFL Kickoff tonight? Not a chowderhead by any means but I'm always happy to watch the Raiders get their heads stomped in! Favorite teams? Matchups you're looking forward to this weekend?
I'm a Broncos fan, not expecting too much trouble with...
