Ohh multiple choice
Well I've thrown one book out of the window in the past but that's the exception rather than the norm (if anyone's interested it was titled 'Wheater's functional histology'- had to wander down about 3 floors of student accomodation to get it back).
As for the rest of...
I lost my library card, so I rejoined last year, and haven't regretted it.
Granted, after buying your own books, the library ones seem to be dog-eared and are falling apart. That said, aren't there books that you'd love to read but wouldn't want to spend money on? The b list? Some libraries...
Hey I'm an entire hour behind Martin.
I'm on holiday- well 'til Monday (the med school gave us an entire week off after finals last week- how generous  ). Anyway, my time zones are a little off at the mo (has something to do with me reading through the night/going out during the...
Heinlein's a strange beast- different people appreciate different aspects of his work. If you do decide to read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, read the first few pages of it online if you can (possibly on amazon.com) as the writing style Heinlein adopts in this particular book isn't for everyone...
I tend to go through one at a time to preserve continuity in my mind, although I can 'pause' the book to go watch a few movies/read a few magazines/pursue other interests.
Well if you're asking for comedy in the same vein as 'My Family':
'My Hero' (which over here tends to be on when My Family isn't).
Do you want us Brits to go on? It can be arranged.
Now you tell me
Ah well, fingerpost is rated higher than Scipio on Amazon, and by more reviewers. I've never heard of the author before- 'twas an impulse buy. When I flicked through the book in store, the random pages I selected seemed very readable. Now all I can hope for is that the...
Well, I should have bought enough books for now:
Band of Brothers~ Stephen E Ambrose
An Instance of the fingerpost~ Iain Pears
The Separation~ Christopher Priest
Stalingrad~ Antony Beevor
From the library
A Suitable Boy~ Vikram Seth
Granted I'm only a third of the way through this one at the mo, but to be honest I'm not quite sure where you're coming from. Thus far, all I'm seeing is examples of "You never know what you've got til it's gone."
I didn't know before, but the Daily Telegraph along with Ottakers are running 'The Real Read' (kind of like last year's Big Read only with non-fiction novels).
The top ten can be found in the poll: http://www.ottakars.co.uk/Internet/realread/realread_vote.jsp
With the winner being announced...
A Suitable boy for July
Something lightweight for August
Faulks' Birdsong for September?
Can we have some decent horror for October? King's Stand or Shining, Barker's Imajica, Blatty's Exorcist or Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House for example
Can we have a conspiracy for...
Current TV (as I could go on for a bit with classics)
The Shield
Smallville
Six feet under
Lots of films
Quite a few of the BBC's 2/3 part dramas/documentaries
Does it need to be said that my TV watching's dwindled over the last few years?
Already mentioned: Pride and Predudice, Shawshank Redemption
Others: Fight Club, Silence of The Lambs, The Shining, To Kill a Mockingbird, LA Confidential, Contact, Great Expectations (Lean's version),
Book to radio: War of the Worlds
As for rubbish ones, too many to list. I've have...
