Hi and welcome to the forum,
Nice to have you on board,
There's quite a big thread on Kurt Vonnegut in the 'Author Discussion' .
Not read any of his books but 'Slaughter house five' looks good.
You're right, too many good books out there to worry about struggling to finish one you're not enjoying.
I used to finish everything in the hope that it would get better, inevitably it didn't, so now i just move on.
Luckily i haven't hit a bad one for a while. :)

Welcome to the forum Prolific,
I've not read much fantasy but i've heard a lot of good reviews about 'Magician by Raymond E. Feist', maybe i'll give it a go.
Enjoy posting and have fun

It's to do with girls being Plucky, sporty and energetic.
Found this explanation, best this Brit can do.
It is a very British expression, gently dismissive of the hearty, games-playing, unscholastic tone of many girls’ public schools, in which the game of hockey is a favourite sport...
Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately i don't sleep very well so i get up early a lot which means i can read for a few hours before the rest of the family get up.
Mostly though i read for 10,20,30 minutes, as many times in a day as i can. A Book is always close at hand.

Hesitantly Stands up.
Hello my name is Cabrasopa i think i am also a 'printaholic'. Can't pass a bookshop without going in and inevitably coming out having bought something which goes on the shelf with the mound of other books still to be read.
Sits down again.

My wife has had "Goodnight Mister Tom" sitting on the shelf for some time now don't think she is going to read it, perhaps i should.
Hello and Welcome.

Hi,
I went into town today to exchange my copy of Angels and Demons by Dan Brown which jumped from page 64 to 97. (when i was just starting to enjoy it).
The Shop gave me a new copy and checked all the other books on the shelf which were all OK ( If it was a printing error i don't know where...
Prematurely finished Angels and Demons by Dan Brown for the time being due to the fact that it suddenly jumped from page 64 to 97. Most annoying !!

I've had the writer Lee Child written down for a long time now as an author to check out, but i'm not sure where to start.
Do his books follow on and do they all feature 'Jack Reacher' and if so which is the first in chronological order.
Any Lee Child fans out there offer any help?, thanks...
Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
Needed something a bit more fast paced after 'The Secret History' also my daughter bought me the book and told me to read it next.
