I start University at the end of February, and I am planning on doing a major in Psychology (a BSc rather than a BA) and a minor in Philosophy. After that, I plan to do further studies and become a Clinical Psychologist.
I live in Rangiora, New Zealand (Christchurch is the nearest major city - about 20 mins away).

The the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman - it starts with The Goldan Compass (aka Northern Lights depending on where you purchase it from). They are really fantastic books that can be enjoyed by both adults and children.

Up until the middle of last year I was buying about 5 a month, but I'm on a book-buying ban at the moment until I have finished all the books I have on my shelf. I've only got about 10 to go :D
I'll be going there at the end of this year to visit my pen pal - to a town called Susice, not Prague. Hopefully I'll have a better experience with a native guide to help me.
I used to be super-protective of my books, but now I don't care so much - although I never, ever dog-tag my books. I'm not going to make myself uncomfortable whle reading by only opening the book a crack so as not to spoil the spine (something which I used to do). I like my books looking used.
I prefer to read in complete silence, but usually I'm forced to read with the radio or TV going in the background. What really puts me off reading isi people talking in the background - when I'm reading during a loud conversation I find myself having to re-read passages continuously to register...
I managed to read 62 in 2006, which was alright considering that it was my last year of high school. I'm aiming for 100 this year - I won't let something trivial like Uni get in the way of reading :D
