Happy Birthday Master!
I'll search ebay for a cake made of Spam. With it's shelflife, you can whip it out whenever you like. :D
The cake, that is. :p

Since Litany turned me onto this, I can't think of any books I've enjoyed more. I'm not very experienced in the genre, but I've yet to read anything that holds a candle to Mr Martin's series.
Do yourself a favor and get hooked like the rest of us. :D

I'm down to the last 150 pages now. My once cream version is slowly turning into a black one as I've carted it back and forth to work daily.
At the time I purchesd it, I bought 3 copies. One for general use, and additional cream and black copies that I've kept wrapped. I was told at the time...
Will do, but it could be a while. I've probably got a hundred or 2 in my TBR pile. I wonder what the odds are of an old man like me living long enough to read them.
Esp with all the time I spend on my chopper in search of people needing saved and corn chips. :D

It's not something that I'm going to dive right into. After the Dumas book and now about 800 page of Strange & Norrell, I'd like to get a few smaller ones in before I go for another 1 around 1000 pages.
I'd do it in a second though if G.R.R.Martin's book would come out tomorrow.

A poll that I saw recently, voted Richelieu as one of the nastiest literary villains of all time. I didn't really think about it much while reading it but I suppose he was a unique character for the time period that it was written in.
Or was he?

You seem pretty pleased that he's at work, Ice.
Any truth to the rumor that he's been off the forum to recover from liposuction and we can expect and new and improved ass at his unveiling?

For what it's worth:
I'm 500 pages into it now. It's very well written and not a book to breeze through, no matter the length. I've been at it for 2 weeks now and hope to savor it a few more. I've read many reviews that compare the writting to Jane Austin. I've never read anything by her but...
What do you think, Martin?
I like it better the way she used to whistle.
Phweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Do you think she got a new whistle or just has something in her mouth that hampers her natural ability to whistle while she works?
