I like both. Sometimes I like to read something long with more depth to give a break between some of the junk I read, and of course it works conversely too in that sometimes I feel I need to read something short and not over complicated after reading a longer novel. :)
If no one else is going to kick this one off then I'll have a go. (Bear with me.) This may contain Spoilers.
Overall, I liked the story. The way it was like 3 or 4 books in one kept me interested in the ever changing history of Calliope.
There were a few small things that annoyed me. One...
This morning I made a personal best on book buying! 20 books! All from charity shops. :D
The Blind Assassin - Margaret Atwood £2.50
Empress Orchid - Anchee Min £2.00
The Business - Iain Banks £2.00
Chromosome 6 - Robin Cook £0.30
Fatal Cure - Robin Cook £0.30
The Tale of the Body Thief -...
I've seen a quite a few home made versions that have worked out very well. If you're crafty I suggest having a go yourself. If not, I back the suggestion for Ebay. :)
Well, I won't get my current finished for a while (got an essay I'm supposed to be writting for tomorrow and lots of art to finish tomorrow), so heres my meagre list. :o
The Wind Singer - William Nicholson
Slaves of the Mastery - William Nicholson
Lord of the Shadows - Darren Shan
Koyasan...
I've read 8 of the books, have 7 waiting to be read on a shelf and 20 I want to buy and read too.
I think that Harry Potter should not be taking up four spaces. Both The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien and His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman only take up one space, so why should it get 4...
I don't think so. Google says someone called Michael Connelly wrote a book called that though. (He's one of the names on your list so thats probably who you were thinking of.)
I'd second the suggestion to look into Ian Rankin. I've read the first two and they're quite good.
I also want to suggest James Patterson to you. He currently has 11 books in his Alex Cross detective series, 5 books in his Women's Murder Club series and many more single books. So far I've...
I just got a book free through the post for doing on online survey for Random House. :D It is called The Dearest and the Best by Leslie Thomas, and I have never heard of it before... but a book is a book! :D
Just one? 2005 was a reading filled year for me, I had so much more time for reading... Among my favourites were Out by Natsuo Kirino, Bitten by Kelley Armstrong, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, and Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. :)
For me it'll most likely be anything I find in second hand shops which are on my very long list. High up on my priority list are anything Atwood or Nabokov (as I've yet to read any of their works but have wanted to for a while), anything by Iain Banks, and any of Anne Rice's vampire books that I...
So it's not just me?
You really can't make the assumption that all females will enjoy the same things. I enjoy plenty of things some females dislike and I don't like things other females do. Shopping and clothes I hate (my mother, who doesn't really like shopping much herself...
I usually go to my local Ottakars if I have money, and if they don't have the book I want I go to WHSmith. If I don't have enough money to get a nice new book I usually go to lots of charity shops and get a few for a fraction of what I would have spent on the new book.
I love Borders in...
I can get pretty nerdy in my constant reorganisation of my book shelves to fit in new books. I try to keep everything flowing from subject to subject and other things (but I need to make some more room at the moment). Plus, I take pride in the fact that I bought 19 books in one day. :rolleyes...
