I've been in a few book forums -for a very short time. Some were snobby amd bitchy, others boring, too silly, too dead, classics only, pulp only. This is the only one with a good mixture of people and different types of books.
I am not surprised he was disappointed with Alec Guiness. Think of the way he describes Smiley- pudgy, with a risible physical appearance which leads his wife to infidelity and everybody else to think they can get the better of him - which, of course, it is not true. Would anyone see Alec...
I don't want to be a spoilsport, Libra, but I bought another book like that from Barnes and I thought it was a real bargain and was going to get more. When I read it, I found why it was so cheap. It was full of errata and misprints. I hope yours it's better.

I love the old ones but I also like many of the ones in 'The Oxford Book of Modern Fairy Tales'. I don't feel like going to the shed to check titles and authors now but there is one where a witch helps the hero to win the hand of the pricess and when he does he...
Well, powerpoint in schools is old news here. It still used in Primaries and taught to students, but in Secondary schools the big thing now is smart boards. I think they are good and allow interactive teaching. Any points, suggestions, thoughts of the students can be immediately added on.
