Really? In the channel I saw it, it was 4 or 5 in the afternoon on Sundays. Adults didn't watch it. It was mostly under 12s.

    Dubbing v Subbing

True. I seem lots of those and they sound so silly. Dubbing can be even sillier than you think, even with cartoons. I've seen people, even children, laugh at Disney's cartoons because the dubbing where made by people with a different accent and using words not normally used in their country...

What exactly does a PH'd mean anymore ???

I don't know what they entitles them too and I heard of a case when students got angry about one of these mock doctors things and decided to give the same title to a pig (The police confiscated the pig and it was never seen again). But don't get so flustered about the letters in front of a...

Kids like that one, that's why they show it in the afternoon. It's Austrian, I think.

    Dubbing v Subbing

Yes, I've seen people doing it. Not down to 0 but very, very quiet. You can still hear the music but not much of other sound effects or words. It's stupid.

    Dubbing v Subbing

I hate when people put the volume down in a film with subtitles. That's missing the whole point - and the sound.

    Trying to understand people

I never went to the introductions thread. In real, not virtual life, I hate introductions, never know what to say to strangers and just feel uncomfortable. I thought I didn't need to go through that in the forum, so I just got in the middle of a thread. Then I realised I had made a mistake, but...

    Trying to understand people

I've noticed that lots of people register and disappear without posting anything? Can anyone explain why? I had been reading posts in the forum for a couple of weeks and only registered when I wanted to post. Are there any other advantages of registering apart from posting?

    Haruki Murakami

Yes, there is. I have a translation of War and Peace in French and, as the translator says, Tolstoi's French is peculiar, to say the least, so it is still different from the Russian text translated to French. And when someone translates something to Chinese, it is translated to Chinese, not to...

Umberto Eco: The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana

Sorry I didn't reply to your offer before. I would be interested in reading those excerpts. I just could not understand what was difficult for her. OK, I just read it and did not try to translate it, so maybe that's why I couldn't see her problems. My only problem when reading it where the names...
