Suggest just one book to read.

Interesting, finding threads like this one by scrolling down the page while browsing. Anyway, I'd recommend: The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne. Everyone is exposed to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in some form or another. Few know that Verne basically wrote a sequel. ;)

    How often do you read?

I read daily. I like reading in the morning, before work, before the wife and kids wake up to start their day. I set the coffee pot for 4:45 am so I can get up and enjoy an hour our so with a book before jumping in the shower and rushing off to work. I'm not discriminating, however. I'll...

    Recently Purchased/Borrowed

Well, now that I'm working on reading the Dirk Pitt books by Clive Cussler (currently reading Vixen 03), I just put an order in for the next 6 books in the "series" that I don't own yet (Night Probe! is already waiting on the desk): Deep Six Cyclops Treasure Dragon Sahara Inca Gold

What was the very last series you read?

Bagger is probably my favorite "villian" from all the books I've read recently. Not from the standpoint of him being so unique or diabolical or whatever - just entertaining. :)

What was the very last series you read?

I just finished ripping through the Sigma Force books by Rollins - Wow, I sure consider myself a fan now! Rollins has 8 or 9 titles published as "Rollins" (he also has several Fantasy novels out under the pen name "James Clemens") Anyway, I started with Sandstorm - which isn't "officially"...

    I Am Legend

That isn't the point. The pre-disposition of the audience to the performance is my point. It affects how the presentation is received. Moving on now.....

    I Am Legend

C'mon.... Just because you disagree with my reasoning doesn't mean that I'm stupid. I don't have the patience to engage in a discussion of this level (or to clarify with more information - I'm dropping it at the fact I really didn't like it), particularly on an "anonymous" internet forum...

    Any recomendations for psychological thrillers?

Just don't let anyone talk you into reading any of the drivel spewed by Tess Gerritsen. I read The Mephisto Club last fall, and it was total crap.

Do you buy, borrow or take out from the library?

I buy. I love libraries, but I like to take my books with and go sit there and read. Just as a place other than my office or kitchen or living room to enjoy a book. I never sell books either. I like to read, keep, collect, display, whatever. Particularly if I liked the book, I just can't...

Fiction authors referencing each others' work

I have a question regarding something I came across last night. My current read, The Venetian Betrayal by Steve Berry involves a fictitious office within the US Intelligence network called the Magellan Billet. The character in charge of the Billet, Stephanie Nelle, was having a meeting with...

    Thriller About Natural Disasters

I just finished reading Havoc this morning. Yet another good read! Although all of Du Brul's "Mercer" books reference at least part of one of the previous books in the series (well, except for Vucan's Forge, which was the first one) - Havoc is the closest thing to a "sequel" to the previous...

    Thriller About Natural Disasters

I just finished this book a few minutes ago. Good read!

    5th Element

I liked it too. It took me a bit the first time I saw it to realize what the style of the movie was and go with it, overcoming my preconception that would have led to disappointment. I would describe the movie's style as campy-noir, set in the future. The background reminded me of Blade...

    I Am Legend

Call me old fashioned, but I stick by my earlier post. It is quite common for people to take kids a "bit" younger than 13 to a PG-13 movie (and also to take people younger than 17 or whatever the cutoff is to R rated movies too.) I'm glad I didn't give in and bring my 12 year old son with me...

    David Baldacci

I've read The Camel Club, The Collectors, and Stone Cold. These are the first three books of the "Camel Club Series" - with a fourth promised for sometime in the relatively near future. I enjoyed these very much - good action/light thriller with some really funny, laugh-out-loud scenes...
