I thought it would be interesting to see what books and authors that people think are god awful. And so, I will start with my hate list.
Robert Jordan now<- This arrogant monkey tops my hate list. His books started good and thousands were drawn into his world. Now his later books have...
sorry to step in and counter-act someone's suggestions, but...
If you want main characters with a lot of power, then A Game a Thrones by George R R Martin is probably not for you. It awesome series, but there is very little magic involved.
The rest I either don't know about or I don't...
I'd say COT was the worst of the books so far. At least in the previous book there was some big plot movement. I came to COT hoping for some more, but instead I get a HUGE portion of the book still in prologue. Then, most of the characters are sooo predictable that they are just extremely...
My single favorite writer would have to be George R R Martin. He is just an awesome writer and His writings are a breath of fresh air in the fantasy genre. Really top notch books so far, hopefully he'll continue this.
My second favorites include
Melanie Rawn.
C S Friedman
Judging by all the work that both writers have produced I would say that Tolkien is a better writer, by a big margin. All of Tolkien’s work is of high quality and I would not say the same about Jordan’s work.
Jordan’s Wheel of Time Series is still being written and the later books are...
Enders Game by Orson Scott Card. After reading the book the first time, I picked it back up and started reading again. Now that is definitely a book you can reread at least once.
An old book has a certain feel. If you have read it and reread it a few times, it becomes somewhat personalized. No matter what you say, books are more eye friendly. All in all, books are better!
*clutches his favorite book to his chest*
I think the books you are looking for is in the Chanur series by CJ Cherryh. I never read the books, but they definitely have cat like aliens on all the covers :D
