Series aimed at a more mature audience?

Oldie but one of my favorites. Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop (note: she has returned to this series and is writing new books) Tamir Trilogy by Lynn Flewelling. Her original Nightrunner series wasn't as good being her first but she also has returned to that series. I haven't read...

    Jennifer Fallon

Subject close to my heart. I love Jennifer Fallon's writing. All of it. Demonchild trilogy to start, extremely fun to read and not only does she do characters well and world building well but she excels at political intrigue. Wolfblade Trilogy comes next, again engaging characters, set in...

    Book involving alien encounter/civilization?

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! Granted he has to leave because Earth is to be destroyed to make way for intergalactic progress but thats not the main focus..... LOL, can't believe nobody else came up with this one.

    Recommend a very good (semi-)obscure fantasy/sf book

Bone Doll's Twin, Hidden Warrior, Oracle's Queen (Tamir Trilogy) by Lynn Flewelling In this story the boy twin is killed at birth and its body imprinted onto the girl twin in order that one day the girl could rule the kingdom (prophecy involved). Something goes wrong and the boy twin ends up...

David Eddings - The Belgariad and Malloreon

You know, its funny, he seems to be one of those you really love it or you really hate it type writers. Or both. Now I agree, the plot lines were simple but thats not what I enjoyed, I enjoyed the characters. The interactions, the personal quirks, the banter between Polgara and her father...

    Fantasty genre dead?

Yes in answering Migey I did and I apologize. I was careful to be general in my original post, but I guess I should not have responded to spoiler info given later. Won't happen again.

    Fantasty genre dead?

LOL, well I THOUGHT (yes I know, at my age that can be fatal) the whole thing was being setup differently, And don't spoil it for me, I haven't read anything on the new books, I can't afford to get excited about them yet<<<<broke atm

    Fantasty genre dead?

I see what you are saying and understand how it can get old. Its like for awhile there Fantasy as all about quests, search for the Holy Grail type stuff. That got old. Now its the reluctant hero/heroine, pushed into things they never wanted to do but prevailing in the end, now thats getting old...

    Least favorite fantasy book

Banewreaker: Volume I of The Sundering and Godslayer: Volume II of The Sundering by Jacqueline Carey. which is a shame because I loved the Kushiel series. I picked these up and put them down 5-6 times before I finally crept thru them painfully. Not sure what she did but she sure didn't do it...

    Long Series'

Saga of Recluse by L.E. Modesitt (15 books) is another LONG series that will have your eyes crossed way before you read them all. That dead house was beat to death over and over and over...... The other series weren't bad however, they weren't 15 books either....

    David Eddings - The Belgariad

Keep reading, they just keep getting funnier :)

    Recommend a very good (semi-)obscure fantasy/sf book

LOL, Migey The Black Magician trilogy by Trudi Canavan (3 books) The Truth Series by Dawn Cook (4 books) Borderlands trilogy by Lorna Freeman (2 books, 3rd was pulled from publication without any explanation, I still think first 2 are well worth reading) Reviews of these are on my...

    Your favorite fantasy series

Personally I love the whole series (yes Mallorean is a sequel) There are also 3 companion books Belgarth the Sorcerer, Polgara the Soceress and the Rivan Codex (which essentially is the outline David Eddings use to create the series.) I do suggest reading the companion books after completing...
