I recently got a Kobo for a gift from my mother-in-law. She paid $59 for it in MA. I noticed earlier postes about the price at $99 being the magic number, think we got that beat now.
so what do you think - i heard the first single and really liked it, it sounded a bit like kid a/amnesiac musically, though the lyrics were not cause for suicidal ideation....really, i would like to hear any feedback about the album.
I haven't read Freedom yet either, but I read Corrections and found it to be a decent book not extraodinary. I read somewhere that Freedom is an example of the post-postmodern movement....
I'm suprised no one has mentioned Sufjan Stevens, the Age of Adz is really an excellent album. When I first listened to it, it was a little hard to digest, but over multiple listenings it has quickly become a favorite. I found it to be the most creative/challenging album I got over the past year.
Was it Franzen who said he didn't want his name associated to her book club, I believe so....and I believe his point was on point. I usually avoid books labeled as being part of her grouping, of all the books I own I only own one with her seal of approval, and that's because I bought it second...
I recently picked up Suburbs by Arcade Fire....excellent.
As far as the blues go....check out the Black Keys...maybe not old-school but they definently bring the blues back to life.
I gotta say, everyone has been great with providing recomendations - I have followed up on most of the titles and appreciate all the help.
FM - as far as cats go, I would he likes cats just as much as any other kid his age, but I'm not to sure if he would like to read a story with a cat as...
I guess I get that people like his voice, but I honestly have to say I don't...to each, his own. I prefer Thom Yorke over this Sigur Rose guy, his voice is great, and at times I have no clue what the lyrics are, but the emotional aspect is felt. To be honest, I bought Sigur Rose on the...
that tooth scene definently was nasty...i liked how he warned the other guy in the last episode, kinda give him the heads up about how once you cross the line there's no going back.
I could never understand the fascination with Sigur Rose, I have one of the cd's but just don't like it...even when I'm trying to relax it doesn't do it for me. I've tried many times, thinking a change in mood or something would get me to appreciate it, but nothing works. I've had one of their...
I thought it was long winded and too poetic, and could never really get into it. This was probably six years ago, and at that time I never quit on a book. I thought it was so bad I brought it back to the bookstore and exchanged it. At the time I read it I began reading Milan Kundera's work, and...
I've heard a little about those books, recently there was an article in the Atlantic about them, but I haven't had time to read the article yet. Thanks for the info.
