Definately start with the Timothy Zahn books, starting with Heir to the Empire. But my favorite SW books are the X-Wing Rogue Squadron series. They are great.

Hmm I would say Armor by John Steakley. Im not too sure how obscure it is but it is a great sciFi book. I liked it alot because it is very much military scifi which is my favorite kind.

I usually read from about 1030-1130pm beofre going to bed. It is very relaxing.

Read An Army At Dawn by Rick Atkinson. Its a great book about the Americans fighting in North africa from when they did a d-day style landing until the africa a corps was destroyed. Great Read!
