I strongly recommend the Darren Shan series. I have read all twelve and loved them to bits. I think any reader from 8+ should read it if they get the oppurtunity. The first book is Cirque Du Freak.

I see myself as a bit of a Bartimaeus from The Bartimaeus Triliogy. Quite a High Level of Intelligence but very sarchastic (sp?).

I treasure all my books but if I had a copy of Soldiers Heart I would guard it with my life as it is responsible for getting me interested in books!

My Story - The Great Plague I found this book very interesting and gave a very good insight into the supersticions and medicaments concerning the plague and the all round chaos of the plague.

I recently bought The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos RUiz Zafon, in ASDA for £7.25. ASDA is really good for getting the new releases at a cheap price. Unfortunately they only sell the new releases and best-sellers.
