Sydney is a beautiful city, and it is even more awesome on New Years Eve when they set the fireworks off. We live about an hour out of Sydney, but it isn't somewhere I go very often. The Harbour Bridge and Opera House are great, but I often worry about terrorist hits on them now.
Kaz, I have...
That is exactly how I felt when I found this site as well. I don't always feel I have a lot to contribute, so I don't post a lot, but I love to read what others have to say.
I couldn't stand to live in Alice Springs. I live in New South Wales (on the Central Coast, near all the beautiful beaches) and it is good in Winter, but can get really warm and humid in Summer. Some people love it, but it drains me.
Australia certainly is a beautiful place, but I love the...
If you mean the heat, I understand how you feel. I love winter in Australia, but the summers are a killer. I generally stay in my airconditioned house, car or local shopping centre.......Thank god for airconditioning...........:)
I couldn't part with my books. I always select them very carefully, so they aren't ones I would ever want to part with anyway.
When my dad died we put his good books away, and sent some of the ones we didn't want to charity. He read a lot of war books, and they aren't our type, so we figured...
I am a creative crafty type too. I also do cross stitch, as well as fold art, knitting etc.
I have a bit of a short fuse when it somes to my temper. I can't stand stupidity from people, and I hate people who whine about things and never do anything to change it.
I enjoy things which...
Hi Kaz
I have been here since I was a child, but my mother talks about it so often that I feel like I have lived there all my life. All but one aunty still lives there (In Linthwaite and Cowlersley) and 99% of my cousins are there too. We were going to move back a couple of years ago, but the...
I am in Australia. I live on the Central Coast and have some beautiful beaches within about 10 mins either way. I lived in The Blue Mountains for about 10 years, but I much prefer the coast.
To those of you from Yorkshire........I was born in Huddersfield and most of my relatives are still...
Try cutting a lemon, grate some fresh ginger and put them it a jug. Add a couple of tablespoons of honey. Put 300mls of boiling water into the jug with the lemon, honey and ginger. Leave to cool and then strain. You can then have about half a cup at a time. I like to heat it slightly before...
Why would you want to rush a book? Who cares if it takes you a month to finish a book?
The idea is to enjoy what you are reading, and to lose yourself in the story. If you are doing this, then don't worry about it. As long as you are reading you are learning, and expanding your mind.
Just...
Thanks for that funes. I love reading about history and the lives other people have experienced. I will have a look at David McCullough, and let you know what I think. I will let you know what the Krakatoa books is like. I can't wait for my next delivery/ We buy so many books here, we are going...
I read non fiction all the time. I love to read about other people's lives, and history. I have just ordered a book about Jane Austen and also one about Krakatoa and the world wide effects the eruption had.
I must admit that I will read just about anything I can get my hands on.:D
Usually at least 5 or 6, but sometimes I may have 2 or 3 books I am reading at one time.
I read a variety of books at one time because we homeschool, and I spend time reading up on things to teach my daughter.
I used to loan books to other people, but now I won't.
I am not being mean, but we had people who never gave books back to us, and then swear till they were balck and blue that they did. We were unable to replace some of them, and I miss them greatly.
My books are one of my biggest...
You could try www.adyar.com.au or www.haunted.com.au.
These were given to me by someone who had a great interest in the occult. I hope they help.
Cheers, Vicky
I am reading a book called How Children Fail, by John Holt.
As a homeschooling family, we are always interested in why children learn, or in some cases not learn. It is a revised edition from the original in the late 50's, and sadly, children and their failure rates do not seem to have...
