I suppose it just works differently in different countries. It's just one of those strange things that GP's in Britain called themselves doctor when they have no Ph.D.
*** New Bookmark Alert ***
I've recently stumbled across - in the loft* - a bookmark which was bought for me about fifteen years ago when I was about 8 years old.
It's meant to look a little bit like leather and it was purchased from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, which I believe is off...
No where near as much as I would like. When I'm at university I really can never find enough time and spend too much time watching TV or chatting with mates.
Over the summer I have been a bit better but still waste too much time. Since I finished my exams in June I have only read about 7...
I should do. I have this problem with books and often CDs too. I sit at home, watching TV, browsing on the internet and constantly think, 'Oooh, I'll have to try that out,' or, 'I'll have to buy that.'
Then I'm out shopping in Bullring, Birmingham, and pop into the book shop or music shop and...
Yeah, I reckon so Cajunmama. Although of course I'd back myself for any mental challenge in any frame of mind, hehe :p .
I'm about to start a Ph.D in physics and so better get the Cheerios out, the kettle on and the toaster warmed up for the next few years, you know, just to be sure!
Tut, tut! When I don't eat breakfast I usually find I get really hungry by around 11 o'clock and then I start to feel ill quite quickly afterwards.
I usually have a bowl of cereals, a banana, maybe a Cadbury's Brunch Bar and a lovely cup of tea. Occasionally I'll have only a few cereals and...
I don't want to be too pedantic MonkeyCatcher, and I'm not sure how it works in New Zealand. But in England my friends studying the seven year medicine degree at my university will not get a Ph.D, but in fact get two Bachelor degrees.
So in fact you will have the same title, i.e. you will...
I've read Da Vinci code and am now reading Angels and Demons, I find they do seem pretty similar in plot but really liked Da Vinci code and am enjoying Angels and Demons.
I have also read Digital Fortress and liked that, I will read Deception Point soon.
I have recently started noting how many pages I read each day and calculate an average. I currently average around 60 pages per day but have reached over 400 on some days and often over 200, but also regularly a disappointing 0!
I think I'd be extremely happy to reach around 75 pages per day...
I read the book before going to university (aged 18) and found it be be quite accessible. OK, it may take a few rereads of some parts, a little bit of imagination as well as obviously having to accept what is said as true (there are few proofs), but the book should be an interesting read for the...
As a budding young physicist (yawn), I believe that everybody should be required to have a go at reading Stephen Hawkin's 'A Brief History of Time.' It gives an amazing insight into what reality is and how nature phenominally acts.
I think the reason you get sick is because your body feels the movement, but your eyes don't agree you are moving. If you look out of the window you don't feel so sick anymore.
I think it's the same, or at least akin to sea-sickness. People travelling on ships suffer this for a day or two...
