    Would You Fire Me.

Maybe you're allergic to this job. Maybe we should be voting on whether or not you should get different work. (I didn't vote. Do you WANT me to fire you? You'd be happier and healthier somewhere else, wouldn't you?) I think it's great that you're taking care of yourself now. Keep that up!

Who are your favorite mystery writers?

:D Immature, yes. On the young side, not so much.

Who are your favorite mystery writers?

Bren, I've heard many wonderful things about Walter Mosley, but because of my habit of avoiding P.I. mysteries I haven't read any of his books yet. However, "panoply of quirky characters" are the magic words that make me think I should, and very soon!

Welcome to the forum, concord6! I read Julian Barnes (though not the new one yet) and crime fiction, too. I certainly haven't read and probably never will read all the good 19th century novels; which do you particularly recommend?

Pinter´s speech at the Swedish Academy

I'm very glad I read the speech, but I can't call it "uplifting." It made me feel like I'd been punched in the stomach...and also as if I'd punched someone in the stomach. :(

    Hi

Hi, Dollydaydreamer! (Does liking to read "debut books" mean what I think it does, books by never-before-published writers? Or is it a genre I don't know about?)

    goodby

On a Mormon mission, it seems. It's obvious when you think about it: Utah, the dragon-liking, the sword-owning...

Old Christmas Threads (gifts, well wishes, etc)

Thanks a lot! Now that song about how "I'm Proud To Be an American" is going to be stuck in my head all night! ;)

    Best bookmark ever

My favorite bookmarks are those postage-paid subscription postcards that fall out every time you open a magazine. I can always find one when I need one, and I can jot down notes to myself on them.

Where Can I Submit My Writing?

What do you write? Fiction? There are plenty of magazines to which you can submit work, but I don't know of any that are likely to provide good feedback, let alone a little publicity.

    Perception of reading/readers..from family?

When you quote your family members, they sound like people who know that they don't know much about books (and take it out on you, obviously). My family has never given me a hard time about being the bookworm of the family. However, I can't help but notice that while they often recommend...
