    Libraries vs book stores

People who like balls don't... Unless they have too ;) I hate both book stores and libraries equally. Libraries because I'd rather own the book, and both because I hate digging through 1000s of books with no idea where I should be looking, and them usually not having what I'm looking...

    Anne Rice

I agree, too. She isn't horrible, but I guess my tastes have changed (and were changing while I was still reading her.) I think the Witching Hour was my last book of hers I ever tried to read, and gave up half way through. Ah! Thats it. That was the one, while I was going through the list of...

    Anne Rice

I agree. It would take me ages to finish one of her books. I'm still not sure why I forced myself to read so many. I'd assume it was that one, considering the name and all, but I have no idea.. Thanks :) Typos, typos! and no edit button!

    Anne Rice

Anne Rice.. I'm apparently bored out of my mind.. and decided to make a list of every book I've read.. or atleast of the ones I can remember. And.. I hit a rough spot! I went through a faze with Anne Rice.. And honestly, I can't tell which I've read, and which I havent.. because theyre all...

    First book

Mine was Lois Duncan.. I can't remember which book it was though.. The only reason I remember that is because I remember writing her in 7th grade to tell her that she was the reason why I began to love books. She actually wrote back too, oddly enough.

    W___ In The W___D Does This M___

I know! It always drives me crazy. Especially since one place will have its full name, then the next not. I always assumed that the author must've written the full name in the original work.. so why edit it out later?

    W___ In The W___D Does This M___

Hi, Ive always been somewhat confused as to why certain names in certain books (particularly foreign, from my experience) are 'edited' out like that. Can anyone shed some light on why they do this? Thanks

    Good place to buy books?

Barnes&Noble and Amazon/Borders are always reliable but arent always the cheapest places to buy books. Ive ordered books from deepdiscount.com before. Theyre usually the cheapest of the 3, but you cant always rely on them to get your order shipped out in a timely fashion. Does anyone know of...

Books make you strange and lonely...

maybe its just me, but i think when i really get 'involved' with a book it makes me kind of.. detached from the 'real world'

    Fyodor Dostoevsky

the only down side to buying notes from the underground is that it usually comes with the double. which invokes homicidal rage into even the most level headed person. maybe i didnt 'grasp' the point of it, but i found it very annoying.

differences in books from different publishers?

vintage classics. i just dont see how it could be changed. you cant take 'X' amount of pages about ceasar and turn it into a paragraph about two drunk guys.

differences in books from different publishers?

i recently received dostoevsky's crime and punishment as a gift, and im now reading it for the second time. ive noticed one difference in particular between the copy im reading now, and the one i read before. in the first copy, same as the second, raskolnikov is a 'former student.' only in the...
