For me, definitely Requiem For A Dream by Hubert Selby Jr. I wish I had not read it. I know I could have stopped any time, but pushed through to the end anyway.
There is a breeder who lives right around the corner from us! I had always wanted a Sphynx, and when we arrived in Cape Town I headed straight for his cattery and ordered my little naked boy! Number 2 Sphynx belonged to a friend of mine who is moving to Australia and asked me to re-home him...
Too true! I have had to put my cross stitch on hold for that very reason. Spynx number 2 will be joining our family today ~ just so long as I don't have to put my reading on hold!!
Thank you for the review... I will be looking out for that title when I am next in a book shop. I love books set in India, and have only yesterday finished reading The God of Small Things, which I was sad had come to an end. I love Vikram Seth and Rohinton Mistry and look forward to reading...
East of Eden is in my top 3 books of all time. I have yet to read Grapes of Wrath, but it is definitely in the pile of books to be read. I would have to say that my second best John Steinbeck book is Cannery Row ~ anyone else enjoy this book? His characters are legend... I prefer this book to Of...

Aahhh, thanks for the reminder. I remember reading the book (Nana) around 20 years ago and really loving it. It is definitely on my 'to read again' list ~ if I am lucky enough to find a copy. Anyone else read it?
Have had it lying around for quite a while, and after having finished reading Love and Louis XIV ~ Antonia Fraser, this a.m., started to read JS&MN this p.m. I am really enjoying it and am off to bed to read for a couple of hours.
I have been lurking for long enough so thought I had better introduce myself. I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I am obviously a book lover, else I wouldn't be where I am right now ~ right ;) . I have never been a member of a book club... I think this will suit me a lot better :) .
I still...
