    Which e-reader do you own?

Why don't you care who doesn't have an e-reader? Anyway, I have a Nook. Not sure which one. The cheapo that every person in the UK must have by now, there have been enough deals. I think I've read one full book on there due to the effort involved in transferring Kindle books from my laptop via...

Thanks, PP. How are you? Good to hear. Well, the being happy bit not the posting less bit. Memoir and poetry, huh? Don't forget to let us know if/when you're a published author. I knew you had gotten married. Congratulations once more to you both, though. Every happiness and all that. :)...

    pontalba's place

Pontalba, I've just read your thread with interest and now have several titles in my Amazon basket. So thank you. I did quote something you wrote but seem to have lost it o_O Anyway, not to worry. I also don't fancy the title The Husband's Secret, and haven't read it even though I did enjoy...

Looking for fiction recommendations w/strong female lead - clean w/no violence or mental illness

What Alice Forgot, Liane Moriarty. The protagonist does suffer from a fall, causing memory loss, but this isn't mental illness and doesn't cause her - or anyone - suffering. From Amazon: I find it hard to find examples of books without any suffering whatsoever, that aren't predictable. In...

Suggestions: July 2014: Short Stories & Novellas

How long is too long to really be considered a novella? Anyway, I'm keen to suggest Amélie Nothomb's The Character of Rain. (Link) Or, if that's too long (144 pages), then perhaps Ira Levin's The Stepford Wives.

    Psychology and Philosophy books?

Is vsmiffy still around? For a nice introduction into some philosophers: Jostein Gaarder's Sophie's World. For psychology, it totally depends on what you want. There are hundreds of topics within the realm. Anyway, perhaps Oliver Sacks' The Man Who Mistook His Wife For a Hat.

    Random Question..Keep posting

Parents. And sister, gran and granddad, aunties and uncles, etc. Why did it say there was 14,000+ new posts and then 10 seconds later it had changed to 12,417? (Speedy reading or what.)

Even if only briefly. Anyway. Hello everyone. I'm not a newbie really, I've been a member for a while, but I came by today and noticed I hadn't logged in for almost 4.5 years. Woah, time flies. Changed a bit around here hasn't it? I'm steffee. I'm 33. Haven't written a book but I like to read...

    Holiday advice

Is eggnog advocaat? If so, I've tried it. If not, er, I haven't. I discovered last Christmas that I like sherry. My grandmother spent a ridiculous amount of money on a hamper containing various items that went in the bin at various times in the weeks afterwards, and among the marmalade and...
