    Thanks for the welcome...I think! :confused: Maybe I am not getting the right message from your post but I think your attitude is a bit elitist. I mean, the Highway Code is obviously not the sort of publication that this thread is talking about, is it? And why shouldn't people read the News...

    Shade, if you like crime fiction then have you ever read any Margaret Doody? her series of books about Aristotle are real nail-biters.

    Dan Brown

    Dan Brown is a great writer. I have never read a book that has held me in such suspense before da Vinci Code. I've read all the others, and they are all brilliant. Why do people keep questioning the writing - surely all the millions of readers can't be wrong? :confused:

    I would say the greatest living writer has to be JK Rowling as she writes books that both children and adults can read, and they sell in huge quantities. I haven't even heard of some of the people you mention, Shade!
