There are 3 Monk books out in mass market paperback. I recently read the 3rd one and it was my favorite. Monk was at his most "Monkish" and Sharona and Natalie are both in it. I can't remember the author's name but a search on Amazon would bring it up.
I listened to the audio version of Main Street recently and really liked it. I had read the book in high school many years ago and had always wanted to read it again so downloaded the audio.
Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult was that way. I loved the book until the end, which was completely unexpected with issues being unresolved. It's the only one of her books I've read so now I don't know whether to read another one or not.
I love Monk! I have 3 of the seasons on DVD. Natalie, Monk's assistant, is very different from Sharona but I think they're both good. I didn't watch the show until Natalie was on and didn't really like Sharona at first but I like her now.
Didn't they recently change the name to TruTV? I think they completely changed their format. BTW, Nancy hasn't been on CourtTV in several years. She left after the Scott Peterson trial to her own show on CNN Headline News.
I read the Alison Weir book about Henry VIII and, as far as I know, it was fairly accurate. I haven't read the one about Elizabeth. I think Philippa Gregory and Jean Plaidy write historical fiction.
I got into audio books after Christmas when I got a new IPod. Audible.com has a very large selection and the prices are good. Pillars of the Earth was my first, a huge undertaking. I'm listening to Main Street by Sinclair Lewis now and it's very good. I try to listen to books that I don't...
I have the same problem with the movie "Casablanca." I know it's supposedly one of the greatest movies ever made but I can't get past the first 15 minutes of it. I record it every time it's on because I think maybe I can watch it, but so far I haven't been able to.
I was given Pillars of the Earth for Christmas by my daughter, who loved it. She also recommended joining Audible.com, which I did, and got the audio of Pillars for my first selection. I'm listening to it along with the book but I don't think I would ever read this book on my own. I'm...
I got Pillars of the Earth and a book about the story of Anastasia, which I can't remember the name of. I downloaded the audiobook of Pillars of the Earth and am following along in the book as I listen. It has made it much easier to get into.
I can't answer those questions since it's been a few months since I read it, but I thought it was a great book taken at face value. I guess I don't read for the deeper meaning.
I didn't read all the posts on this thread so this might have already been mentioned, but librarything.com is a good place on line to keep up with your books and communicate with others who like the same books.
I think computers, video games and hundreds of cable TV channels have greatly reduced the attention span. They could also be the reason for so many cases of ADD now being diagnosed now.
I'm reading Amish Grace. It's the story of how the Amish people dealt with the shooting that took place at the Nickel Mines School in Pennsylvania in Oct. '06, killed 5 girls and injured 5 others. We made a trip to the Amish country last month and I saw this book on sale. They are an amazing...
