Here are a few poems I've written recently. Poetry isn't exactly my forte, but I hope these turned out okay.....
Feathers & Skin
------------------------
Comfort found in things like us
And here in the fading night
Lit only by the waning moon
A parallel can be plainly seen
Drifting slowly
As we do in dreams
Waterfowl in shallow sleep
Floating on their flowing nest
Blanketed in heavy night air
While we curl up ‘neath quilts and sheets
Left unable to see the difference
Rather than look for what I cannot find
I will compare instead both beautiful eyes
Both will open to see the dawn
Both will wake from floating dreams
And now the difference can be seen
Though each is special
One of their kind
Both kindred souls
In sleep, in mind
And when the sun asks of the night
The waterfowl can sing of its dreams
While we only go back to sleep

Frozen Ink
---------------
Autumnal feelings and ambiance
Nature’s gentle dying trance
Leaves are falling and this to me
Solitary amnesty
Repeated in this place each passing year
Nipping night air
Dusty childhood fears
These months are only memories
And I have no wish again to see
The dark in the dead of night
I feel she’s right in front of me
Sisters born
Sisters beyond
Separated by her tomb
Though love and bonds
With death usually pale
Memories can live on if willed
I want and wait to write her name
Let her be known generations gone by
Her thoughts, her eyes, her favored flower
Memories found in every hour
But the autumn air is cold you see
And one can’t write with frozen ink

Evergreen
---------------
I have heard before
That life is ever green
Living, growing, always changing
And hearts are quite the same
To live for you
And grow in life
To change as time may will
Yet even throughout these years of change
The forest still stays green
Calm and alone
In this corner of the world
Waiting to be seen
Now if you can
Let’s play pretend
And in that forest you find a tree
Tend to it, remember it
Then I can guarantee
It will live for you to give you shade
It will grow to keep you safe
When it changes as time may will
To you it will be the same
I could never live half so long
Nor protect you from the rain
But given time
Have peace of mind
My heart will remain the same
To live for you
To grow in our life
And like the trees
Even throughout change
Ever living
And evergreen
