Of any futurist writer, Toffler is definitely king. Future Shock wrote of a future where the family in American society would undergo a fundamental change. Acceptance of divorce and gay marriage(an eventual, gradual process) were bold predictions when they were made in 1970. Not only that, but Toffler wrote extensively of how technology would displace many workers and streamline efficiency in many industries. Banking, the service sector economy, and white collar professions were specifically mentioned and many of his predictions have come true as tellers have been gradually replaced, same with auto workers. The Third Wave is his best book in my humble opinion. The premise that economies come and go in "waves" provides a fascinating light and how societies can prepare to adjust for this change...or be dragged along by the current kicking and scream....much like the handloom weavers.
Any big fans of his out there? Definitely a great writer.
