American Generals in WWII, written by a British liaison officer

Please help! I am searching for book about American Generals in WWII. It was written by a British general who served as the British liaison officer to allied command. I thought the name of the book was "The Night of the Generals," but that must not be correct because the only reference I have found online with that title was by a German writer, whose book by that name became a movie starring Peter O'Toole.

The British officer gave his professional and personal views on quite a number of the highest ranking American officers, including, but not limited to Eisenhower, Bradley Patton, etc. If you have any idea what the name of the book is or the authors name please respond to this request! Thank you very much!
