Apocalypto

I just watched this disturbing, but excellent, flick by Mel Gibson and it blew my socks off. Apocalypto is sort of like a "Saving Private Ryan" of the Maya world -- the film wasn't very successful, perhaps because it was so graphic, but it's really a great film if you're interested in pre-colonial America. A great book on the same time period is "1491," which I also highly recommend.

I tried to watch it on the Tele, but because they stretch the picture to fit, half the subtitles were missing.
Would've preferred them to speak English.

That final scene gets me every time, the Outside Context Problem.

And it was not all necessary either.
Gibson is weird, his Christ portrayal was horrific.
