Art teacher and student book search

I am looking for a book I read about 10+ years ago. It is about a young woman who takes an art class and begins an affair with the teacher of the class. After an up and down relationship the teacher breaks it off. The book isn't really about the physical portion of their affair but more about the young woman finding herself through that relationship and in a way growing up because of it. If anyone knows if the name or author I'd be very grateful! I thought the book was called "Teach Me" or "The Teacher" but the descriptions of the books I've found with those titles don't seem to match what I remember the book. Thanks!!
