best adventure book

when I was in high school I remember I learned about some chemistry theories created by a scientist that wrote a literature book, what is not related in anyhow to chemistry. Maybe it's not the same guy, but the name is the same. Well, I'm not studying chemistry anymore, I'm in another area, my studies are others now. So please, if someone knows about any scientist that has the same name of (or is the same person) who wrote an adventure book please answer. I'm sure I'll be able to find this book if I know the title. There are many rare/used books' stores where I live.
