books on codes, codebreaking and hacking

I made a thread for spies and espionage, and now here's one for codebreaking and hacking! i'm interested in history, also stories of specific people, and maybe a few novels. any suggestions?

thanks!

Try Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. It has a load on secret operations during WW II; with one of the main characters being a code breaker there is a load on cyphers etc. It's a thrilling read, though the author is a bit of a pain in the bum sometimes. It even tells you how to communicate using a pack of cards...

I second the recommendation of Enigma I have read it a couple of times now and thought it was very good.
