Career Writing in Three Steps

The article mentions attending writer workshops. I've always wondered if best selling or award winning authors made use of writer workshops? I've never heard any of them mention it.
 
King mentions them, and says they are about as useful as a hangnail. He says that having *other amateurs* look at and critique your work is definitely counter-productive. A professor is one thing, but other learning students are quite another.

I have certainly experienced the truth of that in one writing group I was temporarily a member of recently.
