Wandering the net and I discovered this lovely book forum! My husband and I both love to read and hope to hook our son, as well. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here... looks like there's quite a diverse group of people!

To get your son hooked on reading will depend on letting him select what he wants to read, and not stuff with a "message" that the author keeps smacking him over the head with (Even when the author ends sentences with prepositions). The voice of experience from both sides of that equation here!

Yes, I agree.
Don't make your son read books that 'you' feel are right for him. Give him variety and let him go from there.
Remember a love of reading comes from reading 'anything'
The key is, getting him to love reading, whatever it is. It will grow from there.
