Maybe 20 years ago I read a very good book, it was lent/lost and has been bugging me ever since what it was and who the author was , who hopefully has written many more. It was about a very smart lawyer. Two very memorable parts are
A clients building was one inch over someone elses land and was being sued. The lawyer had two inches shaved off the side, to catch out the nasty neighbour who then built one inch on the clients land!
To catch out a man who pretended he was blind, the lawyer had a man take out and clean his glass eye while talking to him.
