I have been teaching calculus to some of my students since the sheltering at home began and i was extremely surprised but also not surprised by how many students just get scared of the subject even without giving it a chance. Normally, i would have just skipped over such conversations but with the breathing space and pace that the quarantine has allowed i dwelled into what the fear comprised of. It is often what they have heard about the concepts of calculus that scares them rather than even their experience of not being able to understand it. With this thought in mind, i started looking for resources which gently involve the students rather than scare them away and i found one on conic sections and some more generous resources shared by teachers across net. What an adventure reviewing concept explainers is.
