She's written a few standalone books and wondered if anyone had tried them

I'm half way through Poison Master and in two minds if I'm enjoying it or not. The author is using both Sci-fi and Fantasy themes in the book and I'm not sure she's got the blend right.

I find that I'm very skeptical when it comes to books that mixes fantasy and scifi together. I like my fantasy unadulterated, as it were, because I don't like my medieval castles overrun by tesla-coil tanks, or wizards in flowing robes casting spells and travelling aboard light-speed spaceships. And I'm not talking Star Wars here.

What blended (fantasy + scifi) novels that has got the mix right for you?

Unfortunately I've never read the book Rune.
