Man's Search for Meaning - Viktor Frankl

Sitaram

kickbox
To paraphrase Viktor Frankl, in his book "Man's Search for Meaning", an account of his time spent in a Nazi concentration camp: "Our ultimate freedom, which no one can take from us, is our freedom to choose the manner in which we regard our circumstances, whether they be imprisonment or permanent disability or some other misfortune."

Often, one prisoner would be chosen to work in the mess kitchen, ladling out food to a line of people. It is often human nature to favor one's friends, or countrymen or fellow religionists. But one man whom Frankl observed at this job, never looked at anyone's face, but ladled an equal quantity to each individual, and showed neither favoritism nor vengeful malice.

I belive that Wayne Dyer also mentions (lauds) this man and this book in his own latest book, Inspiration.
