Need a song to use in my movie. Suggestions?

I am developing a movie (with photos) as a tribute to my son who died November 9, 2005. He was addicted to alcohol and was never able to kick it. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very loving person. I need a song that deals with living and dying, one with at least some dignity. Nothing like "I've got a 6 pack under the seat and I'm headed for fun." kind of thing.

I'm thinking about "Imagine", "Storms of Life", ??

Appreciate your suggestions.

I'm really sorry about your son, Bobo's Mum. I'm sure there are lots of songs that would be suitable. The only one I can think of at the moment is "A Song for Guy" by Elton John. It's mostly music but has the lyrics in it "Life isn't everything" I believe it was wriiten for a young man who got killed in a motor accident.

Dispatch (the band) - Outloud.

i love that song. its more about two people deeply inlove.
and If I was gone form the land we know , would you be the dawn , let your beauty still show, and if you were walkin , the cold night coming , would you call my name , cause you know id come running , if you call my name out loud , if you call my name out loud, do you suppose id come running? Do you supposes I’d come at all? You know I would, id come running, I’d come running, if you call my name out loud!

sorry to hear bout your son.

The best I could think of was EELS: Last Stop, This Town

you're dead but the world keeps spinning
take a spin through the world you left
it's getting dark a little too early
are you missing the dearly bereft?

taking flight and you could be
here tomorrow
taking flight, well, you could get
here tonight

i'm gonna fly on down for the
last stop to this town
what?
i'm gonna fly on down then fly away
well, alright

get down

taking a spin through the neighborhood
the neighbors scream
whatchya talkin' bout?
'cause they don't know how to
let you in
and i can't let you out

what if i was not your only friend
in this world
can you take me where you're going
if you're never coming back

i'm gonna fly on down for the
last stop to this town
i'm gonna fly on down
then fly away on my way

get down

why don't we take a ride
away up high
through the neighborhood
up over the billboards and the factories
and smoke

i'm gonna fly on down for the
last stop to this town
yeah
i'm gonna fly on down
then fly away on my way
fly away

get down

I am terribly sorry for your loss. I would recommend Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton, My Immortal byEvanescence, or There You'll Be by Faith Hill. Probably Eric Clapton is the one you're most familiar with; Evanescence is a rock band that is one of my favorites (although those two songs don't sound like rock), and Faith Hill is a country artist.
These are links to some lyrics to the songs.

Thanks for all suggestions

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. Have tried to download some songs but get frustrated because you can't listen to the song first before downloading. I am a newbie on this music download stuff.
It takes between 30min-1 hr to download one song as I live out in the boonies and have to use modem at 25K. Bummer.

Once I get it downloaded, some of the words are not appropriate so have to delete the song and start all over again. Also, I download a song, it shows 100% downloaded but it doesn't save into my hard drive file and so I can't access it from the movie program. I will try all your suggestions though. I appreciate your taking the time to respond.

Thanks again.

Hi Bobo-lover!

First, I'm very sorry for your loss.

I read about you downloading stuff just to find out the lyrics were wrong, so I thought I'd post these links to sites with songlyrics. That way you can check them out before downloading. The are a bit annoying, with many popup windows, but you can find alot there. And if not, just google the title of the song + the word "lyrics". That usually works.

For ideas, I like Find the River by R.E.M.

How about 'Whiskey Lullabye' by Brad Paisley & Alison Krauss; it is a very moving song and Alison Krauss sings it perfectly.

Im not exactly sure whether you have chosen a song already but anyway..

When you mentioned his addiction i thought of Songs like 'Jane Says' (Jane's Addiction) and 'Drugs Dont Work' (The Verve), emotional and relevant. Hope thats what you want.
