Enigmatic and distinctly different, this new 'work for the theatre' does not fit readily into any conventional theatrical category or into any familiar dramatic genre.

'ILION: Monologues before the burning City' offers a multi-faceted exploration of the Trojan War and its cast of characters as an entertainment about the uncertainty of truth and the absurdity of human experience - as examined through a prism of ideas, allusions and imaginative insights emanating from Helen, who was raped, and from Cressida, who was punished for her unfaithfulness by being burnt alive.

Variations on the theme of Cressida-and-Helen are located within a matrix of overlaying contexts: The Trojan War, Commedia dell' arte, Absurd Theatre, Discursive Drama, and some of the popular entertainments of our contemporary culture.
