I'm new here so hi all! Here goes...I read a book years ago and can't remember the author/title... story line is as follows
An alien crash lands in the water close to a mans private island. She convinces him to help her return home and help her people. She trains him in her peoples science which involves tapping into the energy in the world around to change shape/alter matter/zap people. They get a ruby... a really big one from a lake somewhere, escape as flying seals or something and build a space ship to rocket off to her home planet. When they get there, the ship gets hit by an asteroid, she dissappears and he crashes... the rest of the book is him searching for her people. He turns himself into a dragon hummingbird predator creature and rides on a pteradactyl like thing called a voorflon...
i really want to re read this book... any help is appreciated...
